Over the past six decades the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture organization has evolved to become a premier association dedicated to recognizing and celebrating excellence in post-secondary teaching and learning. NACTA supports formal and nonformal education as well as co-curricular activities and events that help our students develop skills and knowledge to succeed in the workplace and in their communities.
This is accomplished by caring and dedicated individuals who provide excellent instruction, advice, and guidance. The dynamic and evolving nature of the science of agriculture and related disciplines requires our educators to participate and engage in professional development programming to stay up to date with the science and best practices. NACTA blends these advances with pedagogy, offering our membership the opportunity to collaborate and learn from others in our respective disciplines. The opportunity to advance your disciplinary expertise, gain new instructional strategies and techniques, meet colleagues committed to instructional excellence, and secure recognition for excellence in instruction is an unrivaled benefit from a professional organization.
I would encourage you to share the benefits and opportunities of NACTA membership with colleagues and administrators. There are also many leadership opportunities to become more engaged with NACTA through committee membership, serving on the editorial board, as a campus ambassador or officer. Just reach out to one of the board members to secure more information.
We look forward to seeing you at our 62nd annual conference hosted by the University of Hawaii System and the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources at the University of Hawaii in Manoa, June 21-24, 2016.
