Letter from the Editor
Upcoming Changes to NACTA Journal Processes
Hello NACTA Members: I have been working with the NACTA leadership team to try and improve on our processes in handling manuscripts. It is our intent to implement several changes on about September 1 of this year.
Manuscript Handling Platform We are looking at implementing a different manuscript handling platform. Please stay tuned as we will be putting in place detailed information on the NACTA website on how to submit manuscripts as soon as these details are worked out. Papers that have been submitted already, and papers submitted between now and September 1, will continue to be handled through the FastTrack system we have been using for several years. So, there are no changes right now before September 1, 2021, but please watch for future announcements in the next few weeks.
Reviewer Lists We currently have three lists of reviewers in the FastTrack system, and with the above change we feel that now is the ideal time to re-establish an up-to-date reviewer list for manuscripts, abstracts and awards. On September 1, 2021, we will cease to use the existing lists. In the next few days you will receive an email which will ask you to access a Google Doc form, which will allow you to enter your interest in becoming, or remaining a reviewer for manuscripts, abstracts and awards. It is important that you enter your preferences (key words) and reviewer information on this form. These reviews are only for NACTA members who have paid dues currently, and are not students. Thank you very much for your service to NACTA as a reviewer. Please watch for more information about reviewer training sessions as we approach September.
NACTA Journal Style For papers submitted after September 1, 2021 we will be fully implementing changes to the NACTA Journal style. We will be following APA Style version 7. This will be a time of change, as there will be several aspects of publications (manuscripts and abstracts) that will be different. We will be posting more information on the NACTA website about these changes. We will be putting more emphasis on Key Words and indexing in the new issue. It is our intent that papers in the next Volume of the Journal (2022) will follow the new APA style.
NACTA Editorial Board I am really happy to say that the newly-appointed NACTA Editorial Board will commence work on September 1, 2021.
We will also be implementing changes to the platforms for submitting abstracts for teh annual conference as well as award nominations. Please watch for information on these changes, as the details are worked out in the next few weeks.
This is indeed a time of change, and myself, the Editorial Board, and the NACTA Editorial Assistant, Amoritia, will be there to help you out to the best of our abilities. Please email me at frank.robinson@ualberta if you have any questions. Have a great summer.
