Writing for the NACTA Journal - Tips

This section of the E-newsletter will feature helpful tips on preparing a manuscript for the NACTA Journal. Most all of the information featured here is available in the "Instructions for NACTA Authors" which can be downloaded from the NACTA website.

Manuscript and abstract numbers. As editor I receive files with many creative names and some not so creative. Can you imagine how many files I receive with the name "NACTA.doc?" File names are important and they become more important once a manuscript or abstract is submitted. I cannot remember authors or file names or titles of manuscripts or abstracts but I can quickly find them with their number. When resubmitting or submitting a revised, final manuscript or abstract use the assigned number as the file name. When making inquiries about the status of a manuscript or abstract always use the assigned manuscript or abstract number.

The Ohio Farm to School Initiative is a joint project between the Ohio Department of Agriculture and the Ohio Department of Education.  Farm to school initiatives involve connecting schools with local farms by bringing fresh, nutritious foods from local farms into school cafeterias and by offering students experiential learning opportunities through farm visits, food and nutrition educational activities, and an incorporated nutrition education curriculum. Such initiatives serve both to help support local farmers and keep food dollars in local economies, and to help create a generation of informed food consumer’s ― informed of the nutritional significance of their food choices, but also the economic, environmental, and social impact.
