Abstract:

The village of Bessada in the Republic of Chad, one of the poorest and most isolated countries in Africa, is a long way from the farm on Tabor Road in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. But Jim Diamond, 34, who farmed and taught highl school vocational agriculture in Bucks County before joining the Peace Corps two years ago, seems perfectly at home in Bessada.
