Abstract:

A survey of students' perceptions of the teaching ability of college professors and graduate teaching associates was conducted at a major midwestern university. Professors were rated higher than graduate teaching associates on classroom teaching skills, but graduate teaching associates were rated higher on empathy and concern for students. Recommendations for improvement of the identified weak areas of both groups of teaching are offered.
