DTA National Convention 2016
DTA National Convention was held at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas on March 31st - April 2nd, 2016. Convention started off on Thursday with the first general session held in the Fort Hays Ballroom. Nominations for Chapter Delegates were made as well as nominations for next year's national council. This was followed by one of our great guest speakers during the week; Dr. Greg Farley - College of Science, Technology, and Mathematics Interim Dean. After the general session was adjourned, all the schools were invited to a BBQ at the Kansas State University Research Center where we enjoyed the wonderful musical styling's of the Peterson Farm Brothers.
Friday day was spent touring the city of Hays, Kansas. Some of the places showcased were the Sternberg Museum, Ellis Railroad Museum, The Walter P. Chrysler Boyhood Home & Museum, Fort Hays, and the Kansas State University Agricultural Research Center or ZZ Farm tour (beef cattle feedlot). The banquet was held Friday night in the Robbins Center. We had another of our wonderful guest speakers; Jeff Davidson, Cowboy Poet perform some of his songs. The night concluded with the National DTA Awards.
Saturday started with our third and final general session of the weekend. The new national council was announced during this time and Installation of the new officers was performed. The 2016-2017 team of officers were slated as follows: President - Sydney Kleinert. Eastern VP - Kara Campbell. Midwestern VP - Stacy Pachta. Southern VP - Brackston McKnight. Secretary - Bethany McKinney. Parliamentarian - Kimmery Hankins.
