The oldest degree offered at Auburn University was historically the Agricultural Science degree. It was dropped from the curriculum in 1998. During the next 15 years many stakeholders expressed the need for the general agricultural degree to be offered again. Under the leadership of the Dean, College of Agriculture, the Agricultural Science degree was re-launched in fall of 2017. Immediately, student demand, for the degree was seen and as of fall, 2020 there are over 80 undergraduates in the curriculum. Industries are seeking these graduates in a wide array of commodity areas as well as those allied with agriculture.
